Meet Cathy Clark

“Working for Spok means to me waking up every day knowing that I love what I do. I have the privilege of helping my clients be successful and have grown to be their trusted advisors,” Cathy Clark, proudly wearing a white polo shirt with the Spok logo, explains over a Microsoft Teams call. “It truly feels like I’m a part of their organizations as they grow and transform with the help of Spok solutions.”

Clark originally worked for Siemens, a German multinational technology company which was a partner of SDC Solutions. At Siemens, she acted as a reseller of SDC Solutions products to healthcare clients in New Hampshire. Clark preferred the atmosphere of a smaller organization and left within six months, learning that Amcom Software had purchased SDC Solutions.

Fortunately, some of her colleagues from SDC Solutions were continuing to work with Amcom Software and she seized the opportunity for a job interview. Amcom Software would then merge with USA Mobility and eventually become Spok in July 2014.

Clark became an Enterprise Sales Director in the same year, later being promoted to Senior Enterprise Director in January 2023. Clark continues to serve the “Great” East Team, which includes states in the Mid-Atlantic. Some of her notable clients include Johns Hopkins Medicine, University of Maryland Medical System, Inova, The Medical System of South Carolina, and Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System.

Clark has always sold in the same region throughout her career and developed deep relationships with these healthcare organizations, which she credits to her continued success. Her co-workers seem to agree as they openly describe her as “sales rockstar.”

It’s not hard to imagine how Clark has maintained these professional connections as she tells her story with a cadence that’s calming, yet confident. If your hospital contact center needs to increase efficiency and improve patient satisfaction, you aren’t intimidated to discuss these concerns with Clark. Her approachable mannerisms directly contrast the stereotype of a pushy and aggressive salesperson that usually comes to mind. But that doesn’t mean she doesn’t know how to be successful in her field.

“My ability to really connect with clients, to truly understand their needs and be well-regarded and trusted, that makes me feel very fulfilled,” Clark reflects, “It’s truly been a pleasure and journey with Spok. I am proud to be able to say ‘do you realize that more than 2200 hospitals, including the best hospitals, rely on Spok?”

To help celebrate the 10th anniversary of Spok on July 8, 2024, this interview was conducted as part of a video compilation with other employees about their professional experiences. It has been condensed and edited for clarity.
